The Old New Orleans
When asked how you procured such an item, act nonchalant and fake a Southern accent. Tell them that you won it in a Poker game down in "Norleans" in a little speakeasy from a retired Madame.
Much like the solar systems we painstakingly produce, this is a model we've transformed by a little ingenuity, metallic paint, art images from an ancient celestial map printed on canvas, antique gels, many coats of varnish and many many hours of work. These are fully functional. The sun lights up. The gears move the earth and moon around the sun. It is not electrified. These are plastic models (some metal) which have been painted to look brass and wood. (Genuine wood and metal orrerys are available online but cost upwards of $1,000.)
This started out as a student's model to illustrate the earths rotation around the sun and the moon's rotation around the earth. It is 16.5 inches across and approximately 12.5" tall which means it is a showstopper. We do not consider this a toy for anyone under the age of 12. We're unsure how long we will create this particular model because of the amount of time it consumes. The base has been painted to look like burled wood, and is weighted. The base features a tripod of ornate brass footings. We use a high grade commercial metallic paint to give the appearance of brass on the gears, the sun and the earth. Please know that these are not designed as lamps or nightlights.
Again PLEASE NOTE: These are custom made - THEY REQUIRE UP TO 4 WEEKS BEFORE WE SHIP. But they are lovely and there will only be a handful of these in existence. We will happily ship anywhere else in the universe at your cost (within USPS sanctioned countries) Item weighs approximately 4 lbs and carefully ships in a 12 x 12 x 12 box. Please ask all questions prior to buying. Thank you. The base features a tripod of ornate brass footings.
RETURN & REFUND POLICY
As an artist who makes custom work, I'm afraid we can't offer refunds. We've tried it in the past with less than happy results. For example, If you order an item as a gift and in good faith we create that item for you, and it's beautiful, and "she loves it" and then you break up with the recipient (whaaat? she meets up with an old boyfriend and you just can't trust her again and now you would find it just too painful to ever look at it again and now you want a refund" you're out of luck in two separate departments.
I'm not one of these gals who suffers fools gladly. If on the other hand, the item arrives broken or differs significantly from what you ordered, we will happily offer a replacement.SHIPPING INFO
